Obituary for Dorothy Elizabeth "Dottie" Pires (Crady)

Dorothy Elizabeth (Crady) "Dottie" Pires, 83 of Pittsfield, MA died on Tuesday May 16, 2023 at her home after a long and courageous battle with vascular dementia.
She was born in Pittsfield, MA on March 31, 1940, a daughter of Henry Arthur Crady and Bernadette (Cartier) Crady. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School and completed business school.
Dottie was a self-employed realtor since 1976 and was the owner and operator of Dottie Pires Realty, her daughter Sally joined her company in 1994 and they worked together until her retirement. Dottie was also a leading Tupperware Representative in Massachusetts and won several awards. She and her late husband Al owned and operated Pires Variety on Wahconah st in Pittsfield for about five years. Dottie enjoyed ceramics, and crocheting. But she was especially known for her special cakes that she made for many family members and close friends on special occasions. Dottie enjoyed the many trips with her husband Al. Once, they both enjoyed a 6-month trip cross country in their motor home. They also took a cruise to Hawaii on their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church and now attends St. Charles Borromeo Church.
She was the widow of Alberto Pires who died on February 6, 2021. They were married on April 25, 1959. Survivors include three daughters- Debbie Pires; Sally Carr (Paul) and Victoria Pires (Mark) Mazzer, all of Pittsfield and one son- Alberto Pires Jr. (Yvette) of Austerlitz, NY. She also leaves eleven grandchildren-Sean Carr, Alisha Moran (Josh), Bryan Carr (Loni), Tonya Frazier (Jason), Ryan Pires (Erin), Kyle Pires (Patrick), Makayla Pires, Mario Pires, Emily Pires, Kara Pulver, and JJ Pulver (Janice); five great-grandchildren-Olivya Stiles, Cayden LeClair, Jayvon Dillard, Xavier Frazier and her most recent great-granddaughter Lyra Carr who she recently danced with on Christmas Day. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters including Rita Marcil, Geraldine Crady, Vivian Crady; Henry Crady and Leon Crady.
The family would like to thank all of Dottieā€™s special care givers; Michelle, Sara, Tina, Rebecca, Marie, Erika and Mary without their loving care it would not have been possible to keep Mom home until her death.
A special thank you also to Kay Hanley, NP who kept Mom positive and provided so much support along the road of her dementia diagnosis.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Dottie Pires will be celebrated on Friday May 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church by the Rev. William F. Cyr. The family asks that everyone attending the funeral wear something RED. Burial will be private. A calling hour at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. Pittsfield, MA will be Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
