Obituary for Candace Ann "Candy" Trenti
Candace Ann Trenti, 72, of Gloucester, Mass., passed away at home on Nov. 12, 2021.
Candy was born on Oct. 10, 1949, to Mario ‘Mac’ and May ‘Didi’ Trenti of North Adams, Mass. She was a 1968 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in North Adams.
Following graduation, Candy earned her LPN license at McCanns Technical School in 1970. She married her former husband, Jack Pregent, and celebrated the birth of their sons, Derek, Joshua, and Travis. Candy and Jack also lovingly remember their infant daughter, Holly. In 1979, the family moved from North Adams to Rockport, Mass.
In 1990, Candy earned her nursing degree at North Shore Community College and became licensed as an RN. Throughout her nursing career, Candy was dedicated to the mental health field and held positions at Danvers State Hospital, Baldpate Hospital, and other Boston-area facilities. Candy's nursing career was the fulfillment of a life-long dream.
In her retirement, Candy enjoyed spending extra time with her grandchildren and invested more time in her hobbies, including antiquing and gardening. She enjoyed hitting yard sales and traveling with family and friends. She took great joy in sharing in the lives of her grandchildren – celebrating their successes and being a caring listener.
Candy is survived by her sons and their families, Derek and Marcy Pregent of Gloucester and their daughters, Sophia and Lily; Joshua and Robyn Pregent of Rockport and their children, Mina and Mac; and Travis and Lisa Pregent of Beverly and their children, Harper and Henry. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Trenti and his wife, Barbara, and her brother, Scott Trenti, all of Gloucester. In addition, she leaves nieces and nephews, Sarah Trenti Kearns and her husband, Alex, Adam Trenti Elliot and his wife, Kerry, Kelsey Trenti, and Christopher Trenti. She is survived by special friends, Mark and Cindy Stroman of California, and Karen Pause of Florida who provided devoted and loving care for Candy during the past six months.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, at 12:00 Noon at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 70 Marshall St., North Adams, MA. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Candy's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
