Obituary for Denis Michael Banister
Denis Michael Banister, 69, of North Adams, died on Friday, May 8, 2020 at his home.
Denis was born in Pittsfield on January 15, 1951 to the late Loyde Banister and Anne Zack-Desilva. He attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated high school from Chicopee Comprehensive. He then went on to attend the University of Massachusetts. Denis belonged to the Local #473 Labor Union of Western Massachusetts. He was employed for years at Unistress and the Yankee Atomic Power Company.
Denis loved the outdoors and hiking. Prior to moving back to the Berkshires to be closer to his children, he enjoyed admiring the eagles that lived along the Connecticut River in Chicopee. He was also a lover of music and was a faithful AA sponsor for many years.
Denis leaves his children, Michael and Melissa Banister of North Adams, as well as their mother Wendy (Atwell) Saldo, and his beloved grandchildren Emma Elizabeth Banister, Lucas Michael Banister, Jaxon Joseph Wright and Eian Jacob Banister. Denis is survived by his siblings Linda Coons, Kevin Banister, Bridget Goddard, along with many nieces and nephews.
